Tales of courage, resilience, and love that define the Elekkattu family legacy

The Humble Farmer
The story of Edamathukandathil Chummar Joseph's commitment to community

Edamathukandathil Chummar Joseph, known affectionately as Elekkattu Kunjappu chettan, was a strong-willed, hard-working farmer who lived for a century. His life was defined not by wealth or status, but by his unwavering commitment to serving his community.

What made his service particularly remarkable was his willingness to help anyone in need, regardless of caste or religion. Though he was a Knanayite, a community known for its strong traditions and cultural identity, he never let these boundaries limit his compassion or generosity. He was known to regularly assist marginalized individuals and families, providing not only material support but also dignity and respect.

His marriage to Aley Joseph of the Kaipuzha Pallikekathayil Family created a partnership that would form the foundation of the Elekkattu family legacy we celebrate today. Together, they raised their children with the same values of hard work, community service, and treating all people with kindness and respect.
